Trip to Edmonton

We managed to get in a quick trip to Edmonton at the end of August.  We had dinner with friends every night we were there and during the days we visited some of our favorite places (Old Strathcona Farmer's Market, Highlevel Streetcar, the Muttart Conservatory which had a display of Zimbabwe sculptures called ZimSculpt and Jurassic Forest).

Engineered Air Family Picnic at Cobb's Corn Maze

Engineered Air once again did their annual family picnic at Cobb's Corn Maze.  It had rained a lot the day before so we didn't actually go through the large corn maze but there was plenty of other activities for us to check out.

Checking things off Ethan's Summer Bucket List

At the beginning of the summer, Ethan mentioned a few things he wanted to do this summer.  One thing on the list was a night of backyard camping.

Another thing on the list was to go fishing.  Someone Wade works with lives in a community with a lake so they invited Ethan to come over and go fishing.  Ethan was the first and only one to catch a fish that night.  Of course he can't wait to go again although he might lose some of that enthusiasm if he doesn't catch anything next time.

Grandma Carol and Grandpa Charlie Visit

My parents came for a visit over the August long weekend.  It was Grandpa Charlie's first visit to Calgary and although Grandma Carol came when Abby was born, we didn't do any sight seeing with her.

I took them up to the mountains to show them the spiral tunnels, Lake Louise, and Banff during the week to avoid some of the holiday weekend craziness.

We also took them to the zoo.

On the weekend we headed Drumheller and the Canadian Badlands.  We tried something new and checked out the Atlas Coal Mine.  Followed by one of Ethan's favorites, the Royal Tyrrell Museum which had a new display of a newly discovered (in Alberta) species.  We also did a short little scenic loop and stopped at Horse Thief Canyon to take in the amazing landscape.

We ate brunch at the Calgary Tower.

We also went out to Canada's Olympic Park.  We played a little mini golf and watched a bobsled come down the track.
