A couple weeks ago we headed a little east of Edmonton to visit the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village. It had been on our list to visit this summer and we decided to check it out during one of their festivals - Ukrainian Day. Wade's boss is Ukrainian and his family name was on the plaque they were revealing this year so his family took us in for they day. They had lots of food so we were able to eat with them and not stand in the long food lines. Historical buildings from several Ukrainian Villages have been relocated here and were open to tour and the people were dressed in period dress also. I only took a couple pics with my phone so I don't have very many to post.

Alberta Railway Museum
Little late in getting around to posting this but during Wade's last long weekend we checked out the Alberta Railway Museum. The are only open on the weekends and on long weekends run their train so it had been on our list to check out during one of the long weekends. We weren't that impressed with the Museum so we were glad we at least went on a weekend that the train was running. They had a wide selection of cars in various condition to walk through and they only had a small stretch of track so the train just went up and back a couple times.

August Long Weekend
Wade had another 3 day weekend last weekend although once again the holiday just confused me. I had to look up the name to find out that the holiday is called Civic Holiday here in Alberta although it goes by other names in other areas. It isn't a national statutory holiday although it use to be an Alberta Statutory Holiday before it was traded for a new holiday in February (Family Day). I guess Engineered Air decided they would rather continue to have the August Long Weekend though since they still have it off and not Family Day.
We didn't do much although it was finally kind of warm enough to set up Ethan's pool that we bought while on vacation. It was still only in the 70's so about an hour a day was all he was able to play before he started to get too cold. We also went to the Alberta Railway Museum which I'll post pictures of later.
Finally on the 4th day of playing with the pool, he decided to get his head wet and we turned on the sprinkler part of the pool (it's hard to see but there's water coming out of the elephant trunk).
