Last week, Ethan and I went to Fort Edmonton Park (one of the places included in our multi-pass). It has four sections: the Fort, 1885 Street, 1905 Street, and 1920 Street. We only checked out the Fort and the 1885 Street before we called it a day so we'll have to go back to see the other two areas. I'm not very good about taking pictures when it's just Ethan and I but I did get this photo of him while we were on the 1919 steam train.

Pictures - Take One
I wanted to try to get 3 year photos taken and have them to share with Wade's mom while she's here this weekend and also my family in a few weeks. We were spoiled by the photo places back home. We loved Portrait Innovations and always picked several poses and had plenty of photos for everyone. I was also happy with Target and their $4 sheets which also allowed me to have several poses and plenty of photos for everyone. I've been looking for a place here but can't find anything equivalent. Wal-Mart and Sears both have portrait studios but the prices seem higher than I'm use to. I checked Kijiji (like Craigslist) this week to see what I could find and came across a lady offering free 30 minutes seasons with a CD of 5 photos. Figured it wouldn't hurt to try. I think she would have done okay if Ethan would have smiled but he refused. I could see in his face he was thinking about it but I just couldn't talk him into it.
Edmonton Eskimos
One of Wade's coworkers has season tickets to the Edmonton Eskimos (football). The season is just starting and they had 4 free tickets to one of the preseason games. The tickets were in the nosebleed section but after the game started, we moved downstairs by his coworker since there were lots of open seats. It rained during the day but we were lucky and it ended up being a nice evening. We also took the light rail to the stadium which meant a train ride so Ethan was happy about that. Now I realize I didn't get pictures of our second seats or of any of us at the game but here's what I got.
Scrapped Knees
I was just looking through photos and realized I never posted this here. This was about a month ago when Ethan fell on the front driveway while wearing shorts. He's so use to falling in pants, he didn't realize that falling in shorts is a little bit harder. Wade had wanted to play in the back yard but Ethan insisted on the front yard. He was running around the driveway pushing his mower and just got going to fast and tripped. He immediately jumped up to run after the mower before he realized he hurt his knees. As Wade was carrying him inside, he stopped crying long enough to say "I don't want to play in front anymore." He is all healed up now and I'm sure we will see this many more times but I had to take a picture of this first time.

Go Fly a Kite
It's been a slow couple weeks around here after my play ground accident but my knee is starting to feel better (although not perfect) and I'm hoping we can get back to doing some fun activities during the day. This weekend was cooler and rained some but Sunday seemed like good weather to attempt to fly a kite. It went okay considering how many years its been since either of us have flown one. Ethan thought it was pretty cool but lost interest quickly and just had fun running around in the open field.

Holy Elvis
It's taken me all week to get this story posted but I still wanted to share.
I should start with that Ethan's first stuffed animal to get attached to was a little dog with a bell in it that Wade picked out before Ethan was born. When Ethan started to talk, he named the stuffed dog Bella just like our real dog. Last summer while at Graceland, Ethan talked Wade into buying him a stuffed hound dog which we named Elvis. These were Ethan's two favorite "friends" until he moved into his big bed when Ducky (a huge stuffed white duck that I received as a shower gift) became the new favorite.
Last Sunday, Ethan baptized Elvis in the holy water fountain. He asked to take Ducky to church but Ducky isn't allowed out of the house so I told him he could take Elvis instead. I carried Ethan into church and he asked to put his finger in the holy water but I told him we would on the way out because mass was about to start. After mass was over, I carried him over to the holy water but he hesitated putting his finger in it for some reason. I reached for his hand to try to get him to put it in the water and in the process Elvis fell out of his other hand into the holy water fountain. I picked Elvis up and a day later he was dry and back to normal and we had a good story to tell Grandma Carol and Grandpa Charlie when we talked to them on Skype later in the day.

When I was 1
Yep, crossed a project off my to do list. I just finished and ordered
Ethan's 1 year book. I had it shipped to Wade's mom so she will bring
it with her when she comes up for Ethan's birthday. Now to start on the
2 year book.
